About FauxCon IX

where is fauxcon IX

After feedback from several loyal Fauxcon members, we have decided that it is due time for FauxCon to move back to the south of Victoria. And you can't get further south than Wilson's Promontory. A beautiful, wind-swept peninsula, the Prom is entirely National Parkland. Which is why we couldn't hold Fauxcon there.

So, instead we've arranged for the Convention to be held at Fish Creek. Fish Creek is a pretty hamlet approximately 18km north of the Prom. The entire convention will be happening at the Fish Creek Caravan and Camping Reserve, at the corner of Old Warratah Road and Fish Creek-Yanakie Road.

Rather than hire a convention site such as a school, we've taken the lessons learnt from Fauxcon VIII and hired a variety of caravans, camping trailers and tent sites for the long weekend. For the largest events, the Fish Creek Free Church Hall is only a 15 minute walk away from the con-site back toward town, and events such as freeforms will be held there. The hall will only be used during daylight hours, both to ensure the safety of con attendees and because it is not connected to the mains power.

how do we get there

By car, Fish Creek is reachable down the South Gippsland Highway via Melbourne and Leongatha or Traralgon/Sale and Foster. The trip takes about 2 hours from Melbourne, and around 3 hours from Sale, depending on the tides.

Additionally Fish Creek is well served by public transport. The Berryman buslines run regularly between Yarram and Leongatha via the town, and if there is sufficient interest, Fauxcon may be able to charter a run from the Fish Creek station to the convention site for the morning and evening shifts.
